When I began studying Buddhism I was intrigued by all the lists the Buddha used in his teaching. Also intriguing was how the lists related to each other. To help me remember all the great stuff I was learning, I started compiling my own small reference. What evolved was Mapping the Dharma: A Concise Guide to the Middle Way of the Buddha.
Mapping the Dharma is a visual representation of the key lists, showing their relationships to the body of the teachings as a whole. It’s a beginner’s guide and a ready reference with brief explanations of each of the hundred or so elements.
The book is endorsed by – among others – Ajahns Amaro and Pasanno, co-abbots of Abhayagiri Buddhist Monastery, Redwood Valley, California, and Steve Armrstrong, founder of the Vipassana Metta Foundation, Maui, Hawaii. During the writing stage I worked closely with Ajahn Chandako, abbot of Vimutti Monastery in New Zealand, to ensure accuracy.
Fellow blogger Peter Clothier at the The Buddha Diaries wrote a nice review of the book. You can read Peter’s Huffington Post review here.
